Personal Accident Volunteers Pastors and Spouses
Volunteers, pastors and their spouses give enormous amounts of time to ministry, and unlike employees they are generally not covered by workers compensation if they are injured while doing so. Personal accident protection fills that gap. It provides benefits if a covered person is injured while carrying out voluntary work or ministry activities, whether that is at a working bee, on a camp, visiting the sick or travelling to and from church activities.
Benefits can include weekly payments to help replace lost income during recovery, lump sum payments for serious or permanent injuries, and help with out-of-pocket medical and rehabilitation expenses that Medicare and private health insurance do not cover. It gives churches a practical way to care for the people who serve them. Check with your State Manager that the people and activities you expect to be covered are included.
This is general information about the protection Baptist Insurance Services can arrange. What applies to your organisation depends on the cover in place, so please contact your State Manager with any questions.
