Crime
Crime protection, sometimes called fidelity protection, covers the loss of money, securities or property caused by dishonest acts such as theft, fraud or forgery, whether by an employee or volunteer or by an outside party. Churches and organisations handle cash offerings, hold funds in bank accounts and make regular payments, and sadly they are not immune from dishonesty by people they trusted or from fraudsters impersonating them.
The protection can also extend to funds transfer fraud and social engineering, where staff are tricked into paying a fake invoice or changing a supplier's bank details. Strong controls remain the first defence: separating duties for counting and banking, two signatories on payments, and verifying any request to change bank details by phone. Baptist Insurance Services provides risk management guidance on the security of cash to support these practices.
This is general information about the protection Baptist Insurance Services can arrange. What applies to your organisation depends on the cover in place, so please contact your State Manager with any questions.
