Professional Indemnity

Professional indemnity protects your organisation against claims that a person suffered loss because of advice or a professional service you provided, or failed to provide. Many ministries provide services that carry this kind of responsibility without thinking of them as "professional": pastoral care and counselling, chaplaincy, education and training, financial or governance advice to other organisations, and community programs delivered by staff or volunteers.

If someone alleges that your advice was wrong, that a duty of care was breached, or that a service was negligently delivered, this protection can respond to both the compensation claimed and the cost of defending the allegation. It works alongside general liability, which deals with physical injury and property damage, rather than replacing it. If you are unsure whether an activity is covered, ask your State Manager before you start it.

This is general information about the protection Baptist Insurance Services can arrange. What applies to your organisation depends on the cover in place, so please contact your State Manager with any questions.
