General Liability
General liability protection, often called public and products liability, responds when a third party claims that your organisation is legally responsible for injuring them or damaging their property. For churches and affiliated organisations this can arise from everyday activities: a visitor tripping on church premises, an incident at a community event, youth and children's programs, playgroups, camps, op shops and cafes, or damage caused while using a hired venue.
The protection typically covers the compensation you may become liable to pay, together with the legal costs of investigating and defending a claim, which can be significant even when a claim is ultimately unsuccessful. It is a foundational cover for any ministry that opens its doors to the public. Your State Manager can explain how the cover applies to the particular activities your organisation runs.
This is general information about the protection Baptist Insurance Services can arrange. What applies to your organisation depends on the cover in place, so please contact your State Manager with any questions.
